Abdullah bin Zayed and his Australian counterpart discuss bilateral relations

CANBERRA, 16th March, 2016 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, today met with Julie Bishop, Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, in Canberra.

During the meeting, they discussed ways of developing and strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, particularly in terms of exchange of investments, the establishment of more joint ventures, increasing trade and economic exchange rates.

The meeting also touched on ways to benefit from the economic advantages and excellent reputation of both countries globally and open new horizons for joint investment in various fields in order to serve the common interests of both countries for the interest of the two friendly peoples.

It also reviewed the overall developments on the regional and international arenas and exchange views on a number of issues of common concern.

At the conclusion of the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his accompanying delegation attended a luncheon hosted in his honour by the Australian Foreign Minister, in the presence of Dr. Obaid Al Hairi Salem Al Ketbi, UAE Ambassador to Australia, and Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Director of the Department of East Asia and Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
