General Information
Information concerning visa requirements for those wishing to travel to the UAE is listed below, however visa regulations and costs are subjecto to change and should always be checked with your travel agent or local UAE Embassy before travelling.  Do not overstay your visa as this will result in detention and fines.
Malaysian Citizens - Visit Visa
The Malaysian citizen will be granted a free of charge visit visa on arrival in the UAE.  No application in advance of travel is necessary.  Please note that your passport will be stamped for 30 days upon arrival.  If further stay is required an application for an extension should be made to the local General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs three days prior to the expiry date (chargeable services).
Malaysian Diplomatic and official passport holders, as well as the Royal Family are exempted from obtaining a visa in advance to enter the United Arab Emirates.  This also applies to the UAE Diplomatic and Official passport holders, who will be exempted from obtaining a visa in advance to enter Malaysia.
All visitors should have a valid return travel ticket and a passport valid for a minimum period of six months for tourism and employment.
Resident visas and work permits are issued by the relevant authorities in the UAE after an application from a prospective employer. 
Types of Visas
 Please note that different types of visas are issued only by the relevant authorities in the UAE.
Visit Visa
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals do not require a visa to enter the UAE.  Passport holders of the countries listed below do not require a prior visa in order to enter the United Arab Emirates for business or tourist visits lasting 30 days.  These passport holders will receive a one-month visa on arrival.

Nationalities with valid resident visa in (GCC) countries will apply visa on arrival, provided that they are coming abroad directly from the country of residence.
Important Notes:-

·        China passport holders (Ordinary passport ), are not required to obtain a visa to enter UAE  - Effective Date  (1/11/2016).

·        Brazilian passport holders (diplomatic and Official passport ), are not required to obtain a visa to enter UAE- Effective Date (14/04/2017).

- Effective from  1st May 2017, Entry Visa will be granted to Indians holding standard passports with the United States (US) visas or US Green Card Holders, upon their arrival at UAE ports, for AED100.00, with the possibility of staying for a period up to 14 days providing that the validity of their passport and thier US visa or Green Card is not less than 6 months. The same period of stay can be extended once for AED250.00.

If you do NOT fall into one of the above categories, you will require a visa and a sponsor for your visit any other citizens than the Gulf Cooperation Council states citizens will require a visa in advance through local sponsor such as : hotels, relatives or any business associates.
Stop at Transit
Visa is not required for any person transiting and stop at the airport until they make their connection, provided they have a visa and confirmed ticket to their next destination.
Short Visit Visa 
Except for citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council who do not require a visa and nationalities automatically entitled to visit visas on entry, all other visitors who wish to visit the UAE must obtain a visa in advance through a sponsor.  The sponsor can be your travel agency, your hotel which where the visitors are going to stay, UAE citizens, the company or department with which you are doing business in the UAE or an individual (e.g. a relative or friend resident in the UAE).
You can pick up this visit visa on arrival at airport, the visa is valid for two months before entering the UAE and it entitles the holder to stay in the country for 30 days.  The visa fee is AED 500 for one month stay.  In order to complete your application, your sponsor will require your date of arrival, flight details and a photocopy of the first few pages of your passport, which should be valid for at least six months.
The sponsor will do the application through the local General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs.  When the visa is approved, the sponsor will forward the visa to the visitor by whatever means possible (Email, fax, post, etc).  Then the visitor will carry the copy of visa and travel to UAE with an endorsement from the Embassy if necessary.
A hotel will only provide a visa if you are a guest.  For an individual to sponsor a visit visa, he or she must earn over AED5000 per month and hold a valid residence visa.  Your visa airline may require evidence (e.g. a photocopy) before departure that a valid visa awaits you on arrival.
Long Visit Visa 
This visa has the same requirements as the Short Visa but will cost AED1500 and entitles the holder to a 90 days stay in the country.
Multiple Entry Visa
This visa often used by business people who are frequent visitors to the UAE, entitles the holder to multiple entries into the country for a period of six months from day of issuance with a stay of no more than 14 days each time.  The visa will cost AED2000.  For more information, please contact the Consulate at the Embassy.
